QDG wins National Design-Build Award by QDG

Design Build Institute of America celebrated its 20-year anniversary and held its Awards Ceremony in Las Vegas on November 5, 2013.  DBIA's project awards recognized the most successful design-build projects in the United States and the most influential people in the advancement of the design and construction industry.  

The National Design-Build Award was presented to projects that best exemplify the principles of interdisciplinary teamwork, innovation and problem-solving that characterize design-build delivery.   The Pankow-Quatro Design Group Design-Build Team won the National Design-Build Award  in the category of Educational Facilities for the Los Angeles Mission College East Campus Complex project.

In attendance to accept the award were Javier and Kevin from Quatro Design Group, along with Rick from Pankow and Aldrin from KPFF, shown in the photo below with iL ciRCo performers.

9th Street School Ribbon Cutting by QDG

9th Street Elementary School and Para Los Ninos Middle School's Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held on October 29, 2013.  LAUSD Board Member Monica Garcia was the event's Mistress of Ceremonies.  Student speakers shared their excitement for a new school, and parents commented on how appreciative they are of this new and much improved learning environment for their children.  

Musical performances were provided by Inner-City Arts Para Las Ninos Chorus and by the students of 9th Street Elementary School and Para Los Ninos Middle School. The ceremony was concluded with a TIme Capsule Dedication.

Martine Singer, President of Para Los Ninos sent this message to the school and the community: "Be big.  Be bold.  Don't be constrained by the spaces you live in...you need to be inspired and dream big.  And this campus can get you there."

On May 23rd, Quatro Design Group received two prestigious awards from the 2013 Design-Build Institute of America Western Pacific Region's (DBIA WPR) Design-Build Awards Competition held at Newport Beach Marriott Hotel:

A $87-million math and science center at Los Angeles Mission College has been dubbed project of the year by a construction trade group, trumping a courthouse, naval hospital and airport, officials announced Wednesday.
