This project began with a client program and project location that would have significant disruptions to school operations and temporary facility costs. The driving factor for this was a recently installed pre-fabricated outdoor dining structure. QDG found that working around what was a short-sighted decision would compromise the long term efficiency of the campus and actually cost more money. QDG suggested an alternate location on the campus that would eliminate temporary facility costs and minimize disruption to daily school operations and upon completion would provide a superior campus plan, by increasing play area and a new campus identity.
This project conforms to CHPS requirements through a series of sustainability features. By adding a central turf area, we reduced the heat-island effect of a campus that was 100% black top and also provided on-site storm water detention. The buildings are designed to compliment this neighborhood of craftsman homes.
